As such, it is FANTASTIC! Sure, there are some typos in this first edition, but the publisher specifically invites readers' contributions & corrections (p. 2) for future editions. The photos in this book are vivid, stunning depictions of life in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He shares his emotions and passion for life and everything that comes along with it. This book is based more on his personal opinions, likes and dislikes. You would get the opportunity to get in his head and read his thoughts. A little too complicated to read. Its not like reading a chapter after a chapter in a book. Each memoir is his personal diary entry and not based on a day to day basis. Also contains black and white pictures taken either by him or his traveling along friend. What i did not like about this book was the fact that the pages jumped around. One minute i was reading on pg33 and next minute i was on pg54 or so. .Yachtsman's Guide to the Virgin Islands, No 13, 1997 City Travel Guides > Books > Caribbean from: Tropic Isle Pubs 1997-07 We have several copies of this over the years. Our first copy from 1986 we still use as we have annotated it with dive sites, nav info etc... These books are just about the same as having local knowledge. You can stare at a chart forever, but you won't get the detail that you find in these hand drawn maps and local nav knowledge that you can use. As with all of these guides, they only show you the anchorages that MOST people go to. This book helped me and my family understand all of the options available from Disney and allowed us to make informed decisions. The authors have been there and done that, literally, and share with us their experiences, insights, and photographs. Each activity at sea and on shore is explained in great detail. Each member of my family actually read through these with highlighter in hand, marking off the ones they wanted us to do. It makes planning a lot easier. In that same vein, I found the descriptions of the cabins to be particularly useful. With almost a dozen cabin classes, how is a newbie supposed to choose?
