I was concidentally rewatching the last season of Angel recently when I found out that this book just came out. I was ecstatic. The story, although quite a step away from what I was expecting, was very entertaining. I only wished the art was better. The story DESERVES better art than this.

"Blankets" dramatically fails in fulfilling the fundamentals of a good story. One of them is how surprising - the story. Blankets has very common story about two lovers, some flashbacks from childhood, one weak motive(the blanket), common characters with common problems, and after reading it all, you're going to ask yourself- "So...? What's the big fuss? It's everyday life, everyday problems of all of us, and not the interesting ones - just the commons. The hero has boring life, a true old fashion naive roman, and above all questions of faith in the lord and the way of Christianity life.

When I first started reading this comic back in its monthly run in 2005, I dropped it after two issues. Batman referred to himself the "g**damned" Batman. He smacked a 12-year old Robin around. He took delight in fighting cops. It was too surreal to be the Batman that I knew and loved. Plus, the pace was too slow for a comic that experienced delays of six months or more between issues.

But now, a couple of years and two Nolan Batman films later, I picked up Miller and Lee's "All-Star Batman" and read it for what it is: A comic book about a guy that dresses up like a bat and hangs out with a 12-year old boy. At its heart, its both a love letter and a satire. Batman is a weird guy, and nobody knows that better than Frank Miller.

Sometimes you reread titles and are disappointed. Other times, they've not faded at all. As much as I enjoy all..er... most of Ennis and Dillon's collaborations, they've never topped Preacher.

Any single volume of Preacher makes for a self-contained read, but this, the first in the series, is still the best. Jesse and his band of merry pals are all introduced and the overall plot ('find God') is thrown up on the table within the first few pages. The rest is joyous wackytime, cluttered with some of the most memorable characters in all comics history - from the truly scary (The Saint of Killers) to the real monsters (Sheriff Root).

Offensive, disturbing and a thoroughly satisfying story.

Geoff Johns and the DC team have done it again. I'm a Green Lantern fan from the 60's, so I know Hal Jordan well. It is great to see him and the other Green Lanterns fighting Sinestro, the baddest of the bad and his own corps. I agree with a previous reviewer that the story is so deep and some pages are so richly done that I had to stop and check Wikipedia or one of the GL web sites to get more information. But, don't let that stop you if you've ever read Green Lantern or seen one or more of them in a TV cartoon, and liked what you saw. Trust the old Silver Age fan with matching silver hair, you will not be disappointed. My only caveat is, you most likely will have to come back and purchase volume 2; be sure to budget for that. Enjoy!

Although I like the previous issue better than this one, Motherland has it's own perks as the story starts to wrap up for our protagonists. Things get a little strange when one of the characters becomes fatally injured, and Yorick almost REALLY dies this time though not of his own occord. I still have no complaints about this series, there's a damn good fight scene, a couple questions finally get answered, and Yorick is still one of the coolest protagonists in graphic novels.

I am in awe of Neil Gaiman.

The Sandman: Volume 3, The Dream Country takes the series in different directions that no one could have seen coming. Some of these stories are set in the modern day. Other stories are set in Medieval Europe. One is even told through the eyes of a cat. All of the stories are thought provoking.

I highly recommend this entire series.
