Love the manual. Have used Excel and Word from the beginning, but upgraded to Office 2008 and ordered the manual at the same time. My old manual are dog eared and well used and this one is starting out the same way. Very useful. Would not hesitate to buy again.

Last March 2007, I purschased the Vista Visually Series that this writer wrote. And, I was so impressed with the author and the content of this book that when I discovered this newer Vista book by the same author, I bought it as well. The reason that I bought this book that I wanted a quick overview on both Tips and Tricks of Vista. After one year using Vista, I have learned so much more about it. Yet, there is always more to learn and an easier and better way to do things in Vista. This author gives you 10 very easy to read and follow chapters that give wonderful and helpful information yet do not bore or overwhelm the reader. The graphics are excellent! Started from scratch with a VB 2008 Experss Edition project. Even though this book was not written for Express, it was an excellent guide. I purchased a book written for VB 2008 Express and did not even use it becaues this book was so much better.

It was recommended by my instructor and has proven to be a healthy resource for knowledge of both after effects and motion graphics. Definitely the first book I would by if you are trying to learn MG.

Subversion, a successor to CVS is a widly used, novel approach to versioning of filesystems. Novelties to CVS are that versioning of the whole filesystem instead of single file, which made it possilble to have directories under version control, efficient storage of versioning meta-data, making it possible to have binary files under version control. This book has some great tips as responses have noted. My one issue - at least a quarter of the book -- possibly more -- are tips that apply only to PCs. While often there will be a separate entry for PCs (usually longer) and Macs, there are a good number of suggested tools/tricks that only apply to PCs. I would have like to be able to read through only relevant ones.

I believe the person that might benefit the most from this book is someone from a traditional ad/marketing agency that has some experience with social media (they know what a blog, Facebook, and user generated content is), but needs additional exposure and ideas about ways to apply.

I might have been the wrong audience.

For me, there were some interesting case studies and it does a good job of connecting ideas, but I didn't feel like I got much out of it. I think I would describe it to someone as:

Introduction to Social Web Marketing: A Traditional Marketer's Primer

Overall, it just didn't grab me, but there are a lot of people that seem to love the book, so take it with a grain of salt.
