I bought the previous revision of this book when I stepped into my first VMware environment consisting of two SANs, six hosts, and a lot of questions. It was fairly insightful but lacked enough support of VI3.5. Now that I am running a global VM infrastructure with 3.5 throughout, it was time to upgrade the text. I was not disappointed. I have essentially based the new production farms' configs on examples from this book (tweaked for our environment) but the underlying logic has earned several compliments from VMware support.

For those of you who enjoy reading about technology in bed before embarking on a new adventure, this one actually comes along on pleasure trips as well. It's fun.

Like my title suggests, if you have programming experience and you do not mind or have little trouble reading the Python documentation in a online fashion then its probably not absolutely necessary that you have to buy the book.

However, the author is very good in instilling the nature of Python programming and he's good at getting you to think about the concepts but this book is definitely not a cookbook. Last thing is that it doesn't concentrate on the GUI nor library usage etc as it's mission is simply to teach you about the core of Python

Purchased this manual to make the transition from PC to Mac easier since NO written instructions come with computers anymore and wanted some insight as to different keystroke commands and translation of what Apple calls programs, files etc. in one source. All-in-all, the book did just what I expected, and as a bonus, it is a pretty good introduction to what comes with an iMac and how to get the most from it. I also had a couple of programs that could only run under Windows and book provided pros and cons of various options. Again, all info that is out on the Web someplace, but nice to have in hand. I think the index could be a little more comprehensive. I also don't mind the 'you just saved 5 bucks' ploy by including a web site URL instead of a CD in the ... Read More:

Although I try to keep up with hot business books, I missed this one when it was climbing the NY Times Bestseller ranks in 2006. I heard about it in a Q&A session on LinkedIn and decided to read it. Chris Anderson has soundly articulated how the democratization of production and distribution has changed the rules of the game. If you're a creative type trying to produce and sell your own stuff, this book will encourage you to forge ahead. There's a niche out there somewhere that is looking for you.

Nice discussion/analogy of the history of electric power generation and the future of computers. Not sure if we'll get to where the author claims, but the trend is there.

I really love the harvest moons, and this one is a very complex version. I havent played it for a long time yet, but highly suggest that you buy the guide. It has so many things to learn, that you need the book to play.
