At first glance this book resembles a comic book, and this may persuade you to put away the book. I recommend that you go through the first chapter and make your decision.

In reality as SW Engineers while designing a system we consider a set of requirements required to meet current deadline. We also attempt to think through several permutations and combinations of these requirements that may be required in future. Often, we fall short in conceiving all that is need to meet future requirements.

This book walks through such scenarios and at times points out how to design software while mitigating such changes to minimal in future releases.

I, like so many others, was required to have this book for two of my classes. While it is a very informative, useful book, it is not very well-organized and is very boring. The videos on the CD that comes with it is very helpful to understand a lot of the hands-on stuff. Many of the "Reviewing the Basics" questions at the end of the chapter cover a lot of pointless things that are not necessary to know, and there are always anywhere from 1 - 5 questions that I just absolutely cannot find the answers to. There have also been many things that a few of my PC tech teachers have found in the book that they would like to debate with the author about. This is a good beginners' book. It is, however, 3 years old and does not cover the latest version of Java, 6.0. According the publisher, O'Reilly Media, the authors consider Java 6.0 to be similar to version 5.0 and thus not worth a new edition. The next edition is scheduled for 2010, when Java 7.0 comes out.

this is not good book. too much literal explanation, and the most importnat is there has no any screen with highlighted instruction , so user can quick understand where and how to do it. With too many small words to explain the operation, it's hard for user to understand and it takes user too much time to search around the location of what the author trying to point out from the screen.
I was trying to learn more skills of Excel, but after reading couple of chapters from this book, now my enthusiasm is gone!

The Expectations of a Bradygames signature series guide are usually higher than that of other guides. Lately, it seems like the only real difference between signature series and not is the quality of the paper. The Tales of Vesperia Guide, while good, doesn't really feel like a "Signature Series" guide at all. Some of the things that detract from it are things that a Signature Series guide ought to have. And not just a signature series guide, but any strategy guide in general.

This is a classic delivered in a modern top-notch layout, with very clear organization and focus. The first edition was written before the modern-day sidebars, peripheral remarks, and time-consuming case studies. The eigth edition does have some added "extra-material" (like chapter openers), but not at the expense of a clear-cut presentation. In particular, this sets it apart from Alexander/Sadiku (3/ed.).

It also has a more modern and clear feel to it than Dorf/Svaboda, which is also a classic, albeit one to be steered clear of; it has not been modernized like Nilsson's book and was less clearly written from the start.
