This was an awesome little phrase book! It was very handy and fit right in my purse! I found this book choc-full of useful, practical phrases and information! We used it everywhere on our trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. You get a lot of bang for your buck on this one, and I highly recommend it!

This guide,as will all DK guides, provides good, basic information on the most popular sites in each area. I suspect that the material is reused from other DK gudies.

What this product lacks is good, detailed information about information that would be relevant to cruisers. For example, there are sections that deal with cruise selection, packing, etc.; but there is no information about the port facilities, distance from the port to the main part of town, local public transportation options, etc. Apparently, it is assumed that passengers will book shore excursions from the cruise line and not go off on their own.

This book covers 14 languages in ~ 400 pages, so you get about 25-30 pages per language, which is not much. Basic phrases and some words. Excellent if you are hopping around Europe through several countries or if you will only be in a place for 1-2 days. However, if you are in a place for more than a few days you will want a book that specializes on that language and that includes a 2-way translation dictionary. This book does not.

This book contains the following for each language. Also for most of these this book has the English word or phrase, the foreign language equivalent and importantly a phonetic spelling of the foreign word or phrase.

I'm delighted to have bought this guide before my trip to Cuba. It is nicely illustrated and presents substantial historical and cultural information as well as the necessary where-to-stay and what-to-see.

The guide was great if all you had was a short time. All it lists are the top ten in any area and since I had more time (1-1/2 weeks), there is so much to see and do in Oahu that I needed another guide book. For example it listed the top ten restaurants which are the most expensive. I like the less expensive restaurants (termed mediocre in Frommer's). Additionally in the airport there are a dozen free guide books in racks which seem to have everything listed in this book.

Lots of very useful information, tips, maps, images, history. Having everything ranked in top 10s is great when you have to quickly chose what you have to do in cities you don't know.

These guides are excellent, very visual. Nevertheless not good for a budget traveller or backpacker since it shows fine and expensive restaurants and attractions mostly. It would be better a guide for only Brussels.

I have purchased a number of DK Eyewitness guide books over the years, and this has been another disappointment in a long line. First, the books are heavy to carry (and pages can't be easily torn out). Second, the indexes are unreliable; some popular topics and landmarks are there; other equally-popular ones are not. Third, the pictures are pretty, but small, and the text description too little even on famous chateaux. Not much history, not much description, not much indication of why we should visit the place. The driving and walking routes plotted are no better than many others that are available, including on line, and much worse than some. The hotel and restaurant information is minimal, and tucked away in the back in a separate small section.
