The guide bood for amsterdam was a very effective book for my recent trip to holland.
i enjoyed the photographs and the offers for tours.
all in all - i highly recommend this book for tourists from all over the world.
one comment - not enough maps - this was a problem for me!

We used this book on our travels to the coast of THailand and stayed at Koi Samui. I wished that the book had revealed more about Koi Samui and hope that future editions would add more than two pages of coverage. Regardless, DK always is first rate in pictures and explaining the life of Thailand which is a beautiful country. After visiting Thailand for a wedding, the coastline of Thailand has become a top destination for weddings and reception. It's no wonder since the waters are spectacular clear, shallow, and peaceful. I had a wonderful time which I highly recommend going. I highly recommend Bangkok Airways which has great first rate service. This one is pretty to look at but a little light on practicality. We opted for others. For an illustrated colorful overview for what's in store if you visit, its worth a lookysee.

(I wanted to make it 4 stars, but goofed and now can't seem to change it.)

This sounds like a gimmick, but is a surprisingly useful guide, especially given its compact size and low price. The concept of the top 10 list is used to organize information on the most important or interesting things to see. For each item on the top 10 there is a brief paragraph and a marker on a tiny map.

The book is useful for two reasons. First the little paragraphs are well written, giving you key information in a small space. Secondly, they use the top-10 concept in creative ways, so you get the top 10 for Athens of which the Acropolis is number one. DK's "Eyewitness Travel Guide Great Britain" is another in a terrific series of regularly-revised, comprehensive travel books. This guide is a colorful, well-arranged, and fascinating source of just the kind of detailed infromation needed to plan to a good vacation or business trip to Great Britain.

"Great Britain" opens up with maps and a short history lesson, then proceeds to cover the country by region, beginning with London, the UK's great city and most frequently visited location. It's tough to pick the "best" guidebook for a particular destination, and the proliferation of free travel information on the web makes choosing "the one" even tougher. My wife and I always start with a copy of an EyeWitness guide for the destination: there are pictures on every page, and we find the images help us plan our trip: the guides are particularly good for architecture and art. The practical guides in the back cover currency, hotels and restaurants.

This guide to Dehli, Agra and Jaipur is a particularly good example of the DK offerings: the images, paper, text, all are up to the high standards of other books in the series.

This is a very thorough guide for when you have only a day or two to visit. It actually has way more in it than we could possibly see or do.
Giving the top ten things to see is great for your first visit. It is also great for probably your second or third.

Very helpful, lots of pictures and maps.
