There was nothing "new" or updated in this book. I have read other (older) tour guides on this same destination with better information.
I prefer Frommers Guide Books. I purchased this one thinking there would be more current information, but, it was the same old thing re-hashed.

Fodor's has long been one of my favorite sources for travel guides and I love the Fodor's Exploring books. The photos in Fodor's Exploring Japan are beautiful and well chosen with nice captions. The book is filled with interesting facts and historical refrences. It's a great guide book but also just a wonderful book on the culture of Japan.

Fodor's has long been one of my favorite sources for travel guides and I love the Fodor's Exploring books. The photos in Fodor's Exploring Japan are beautiful and well chosen with nice captions. We took this along on our first cruise, a trip to Alaska. It really did give us good insight to what we were about to do. It was very useful and very informative and well designed and indexed. Do not leave home without it.

I prefer color photos and maps. This book has a lot of information, however while on vacation, I prefer short summaries, not novels.

It was so hard to chose a travel guide for a country I have never been to that I obsessed over the choices available. I finally settled on Frommer London and Foders England. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't find any mention of an area of England that I must spend time in due to a work obligation, in the Fodor's guide. I couldn't believe it!!! I should send it back for a refund, but instead you can look for it in my third party bookshop sometime in the near future.

The book has most of the items that are necessary to the traveler, i.e. the section in the beginning, "Smart Travel Tips,"; however, there should be a section describing a brief history of Singapore and there should be a more detailed description of the walking tours, including better maps, of the ethnic neighborhoods.
