I gave 2 books on the subject as welcome gifts to friends visiting the city from Europe, and they especially enjoyed this one and found it valuable. It struck me as short, sweet and easy for parents wanting to make the city enjoyable for their kids without having to invest a lot of time reading.

Wherever I go I use Fodors guides. I just got back from Europe and Fodors found unique places, great restaurants and comfortable hotels all at reasonable (for Europe) prices. Follow the orange or black stars, you can't go wrong.

A bouhgt several different NY guides, but this map was the one I used most. It's small enough that you can open it in subway without been in shame, but big enough to read street names without binoculars. Map also includes subway system, wich was great. Next trip I will leave my guidebooks to home and take this map and michelins guide to NY.

Great book! We booked the accomodations through a travel agency but found that they were both Fodor's choice. The resorts were well described, and using their recommendations on where to eat on Ambergris Caye were spot on! The only thing I would have liked would have been more detailed maps of the different areas (Cayes in particular) but that may be out of the scope of this book. Highly recommend!

I haven't taken my trip yet so I can't judge the recommendations or the accuracy of the details. I also bought "Rick Steves' Germany and Austria 2008" (which I think is near-great), so I will highlight Fodor's strengths. This book is well-organized. It's easy to quickly find what you want: Use the thumb tabs to get in the right region, then thumb through looking at the orange page and section headings. The font styles and symbols are easy to read. The maps are excellent. The sightseeing map location numbers are repeated by the sight descriptions. The "Where to Stay & Eat" maps are similar but the location numbers are not carried over to the description section. There are more recommendations for hotels and eating places than in RS. ...
