City Travel Guides Discounted Books : Footprint Guatemala Handbook
.Footprint Guatemala Handbook
City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks
by: Claire Boobbyer

February 09, 2002
We lived in Guatemala City for 2 years and found most of the other guidebooks for Guatemala spoke of really interesting things the average city dweller couldn't get to on long weekends out from Guatemala City (such as Alta Verapaz). Footprints is chock full of interesting things to do within a four hour drive of Guatemala City which made it perfect for us. We found Footrints far superior to Let's Go and Lonely Planet.

City Travel Guides Discounted Books : Footprint Bolivia Handbook (3rd Edition)
.Footprint Bolivia Handbook (3rd Edition)
City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks
by: Alan Murphy

2002-07
I was saddened by this review. As author of Footprint's Bolivia Handbook, and someone who lived in La Paz for a while, I have a deep affection for the country and its people. The accusation that I "speak in a very bad way" about the country is deeply offensive and shows that the reader hasn't bothered to read the text thoroughly before sharing their views. This guidebook is by no means perfect - no guidebook every can be - but at least it strives to be honest. Sometimes, unfortunately, certain people take exception to this policy.

City Travel Guides Discounted Books : Morocco Handbook: With Mauritania (Footprint Handbooks Series)
.Morocco Handbook: With Mauritania (Footprint Handbooks Series)
City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks
by: A. McLachlan, Keith McLachlan

1997-05
Anne & Keith McLachlan have covered just every possible track and hamlet with the wide open eyes of the first world tourist. If there is a bus or lorry going from one remote place to another, they mention it, plus the condition of the track, the lodging, the food and what have you. They not only give thourough info on history, geology, politics and social structure, but also on how to handle harassing 'guides'and others. This book is in my opinion the best so far. I've been in Morocco twice now and this book beats the guide by The Lonely Planet, The Rough Guide and the French: Maroc, edition Gallimard. However, if you prefer beautiful photo's, this book is not the one. In that case the French guide beats them all.

City Travel Guides Discounted Books : Footprint 2004 Central America and Mexico (Footprint Central America and Mexico Handbook)
.Footprint 2004 Central America and Mexico (Footprint Central America and Mexico Handbook)
City Travel Guides > Books > Footprint Handbooks
by: Peter Hutchison

2003-09
We drove to Panama and back in our RV using Lonely Planet's "Central America on a Shoestring" and the Footprint "Central America and Mexico" guides as our main references. Both are written primarily for the backpacker taking public transport and staying in hotels, but we found Footprint had more information for camping. Both were helpful, but ultimately we ended up finding our own camping places and writing our own book more focused on driving and camping. If you are spending time in one country and not just passing through, it is better to have a Footprint or other guide for each country. For example, we found some camping places in a Panama guide which weren't in the Central America guide.

Basically, if i had to choose between the Footprint Barcelona Handbook (FBH) and the Lonely planet guide (LPG), the (FBH) would remain my main reference .
