I found the Frommers guide very helpful when on the Big Island. He is a bit opinionated, because a few places I found that Frommers didn't like, I liked. But overall, this pocket book was much more helpful in the exploring the Big Island for the first time. It is a must if it is your first time to go. Make sure to take time to read it, and not just on the airplane over. You may want to find a more detailed map once you get to the Big Island to navigate around, as Frommers did not have very detailed maps.

Ahh Lads and Lassies,
This atlas made our trip to the "Old Sod" very enjoyable. We motored around viewing the beautiful scenery from Shannon to Malin Head and back, without a missed turn. Well, there was one missed turn, but that was due to human error...
The scale is 1: 200,000, which is the best I could find...anywhwere.
The pages are numbered clearly. The maps are perfect;y accurate.
The references to other related pages are smooth and easy to follow.
It was our first trip driving the country and we had nary a hitch.
Highly recommended by this Yank.
This is the First Edition from April 2004, so I am looking for the next edition, I hope, coming out soon. Who knows?

The book gives thorough, easy to follow walking tours throughout different areas of New York City. The historical facts and inclusion of details regarding the development of the city are impressive. The authors, Michele and James Nevius, are New York tour guides - I followed up with a tour of Greenwich Village with them to appreciate their level of knowledge of the area. If you are interested in a focused look at the city with insights into how time has passed through architecture and immigration, use this book as a guide.

I was disappointed that there wasn't much said for Connecticut in this book and almost half of the book was on MA. There are other states in New England other than MA!!

With the recent news about travel book writers copying from others and not really knowing the places they write about, this is one in my opinion. Example, based on the recommendation saying Rum Point was one of the best snorkeling spots with rainbow hued fish, my wife and I took a day from our time on 7 Mile Beach and drove there (long drive on the island). The beach itself was fine, no better than the beach we left, but the snorkeling was awful. I gave up trying to find the good spot myself and went to Red Sail Sports who operate boat tours (and snorkel trips) from there and said I'd heard this was a good snorkeling place. The book was good as it did detail many restaurants and beaches. In addition, it provided a detailed map which is especially useful if you are planning on hiring a car. However, I would not recommend just using this book. There were some eatery's that were recommended in this book that were regarded by the "maui revealed book" as not as good. I would recommend using this book in addition to Maui revealed book. The later book is excellent. There is no fluff and will let you exactly what you need to know about Maui.

This was a great lil guide to throw in your bag. The foldout map was AWESOME and worth the purchase. We used this item daily on our 2 week honeymoon. This book and the 50 Thrifty Maui Restaurants were such a great resource; one to get you around, the other to get you well fed. I highly recommend both since everytime we used them we had a better time for it :)
