I nearly returned this book; it has a few morsels but in general I found the AAA guide to the region to be far more comprehensive, and free if you are a member. What I hoped for were candid reviews of hotels and restaurants, but see very little in that regard.

This was a great lil guide to throw in your bag. The foldout map was AWESOME and worth the purchase. We used this item daily on our 2 week honeymoon. This book and the 50 Thrifty Maui Restaurants were such a great resource; one to get you around, the other to get you well fed. I highly recommend both since everytime we used them we had a better time for it :)

We hadn't been to SF in years, and not with kids. So although I knew the city a little, I can't tell you how great it was to have all the information in this book for traveling with kids. I also bought the Fodor's book--"50 things to do with kids in SF" but it wasn't nearly as helpful--just a (very good) 50 item list. The Frommer's book by contrast is a complete travel book with great restaurant choices, itineraries, how to find bathrooms (hard to do with the homeless problem), etc.

I've been an avid fan of Frommer's books from all the European and Stateside traveling I do with my family; however, I was disappointed in this San Diego version. Mainly with the "Where to Eat" sections. Luckily, on my trip, I was able to have some locals make recommendations and found some fantastic restaurants (particularly in the Gaslamp District). We also found a great Dueling Piano Bar. None of that was in this tour book. In any case, Frommer's faithfully provided a good orientation as to what the main things to site see were.

This was the perfect book for our first trip to NYC. The subway lines were accurate and easy to use. The fold out maps were perfect! All of the attractions are here with key tips, directions, and insider info. Follow the mapped out walking tours and you'll definitely see The New York that you imagined. The hotel info was okay, but more accurate info is available online. We'll definitely use our book again for the next trip to New York. Overall, this is a well thought book, and the perfect size to fit in your purse.

This is an accurate and insightful guide to South Florida, less so for the Keys and especially Key West. Only 26 of the more than 400 pages are devoted to Key West. There is almost nothing about the wonderful opportunites on the water there -- day trips on schooners, snorkel/kayak adventures. And just a few of the best restaurants are listed (how can anyone omit BO's Fishwagon!); and in a town of a hundred B&Bs, just nine are mentioned.

If you are going to spend more than a day in Key West (and a day trip is a bad idea--a long slow drive, no place to park, and the town is hard to figure out) get a guide for just the Keys and Key West, or just "The Conch Republic" itself.

My husband and I purchased this book to help us as we traveled in Cabo. The information was incomplete, inaccurate, and dated. It failed to warn travelers about the constant barrage of time-share vendors (even in the grocery store and before you leave the airport) and omitted practical advice in dealing with them. The prices listed were too low. The "quality" of many of the restaurants listed was inaccurate. We got more practical tips from local literature. This book was a waste of money.

I'm headed to Cancun soon and was looking for a comprehensive guide to Cancun. While the title of this guide starts with Cancun, the guide covers all of the Yucatan.... the section on Cancun is only 15 or so pages. I was disappointed with the limited infomation on Cancun... a handful of restaurant recommendations.... brief, not very informative descriptions of the outdoor activities... it's more of a general overview instead of the in depth guide I wanted...

This book is absolutely fantastic! It's small and concise while still being detailed enough for a short trip to Lisbon & its surrounding areas (Cascais, Sintra, etc). It offers several suggestons for how to spend 1, 2 or 3 days, or even a week.

The book is detailed without being too big (or too small) and includes a great fold-out map. Buying a whole book on Portugal would be more information and bulk than I need.

I highly recommend any book in this series. Nice color without being too much fluff.
