I am planning a trip to Bermuda and never having been there before I found this book very helpful. I know where to go for the activities and when to go for the events I wish to see. I see one reviewer gave a bad rating to this book because a couple of places listed in the book closed. Be aware that when these travel guides are written by the time they are published it is often up to a year later. Of course, some things will change in that time. That's no reason to trash the entire book. After reading the book I feel I will know my way around the island and what it has to offer.

While this book touches on a lot of the sights worth seeing, the rest was lacking. The restaurant and hotel prices list were substantially lower than actual costs. The restaurants felt like total tourist traps- overpriced, mediocre to terrible food, and bad service. I was better off looking for restaurants on my own.

Unfortunately, Frommer's NS, NB, & PEI Tour Book lacks some top attractions. For example, it is unforgivable that it does not mention Founder's Hall (one of the best museums, if not the best, devoted to the history of Canada)on PEI. Another example is its failure to mention Woodleigh (recently out of business due to the illness of the owner, but in operation when the book was published), also on PEI.

Its July 2008, and my family has just returned from a wonderful 9 days in Costa Rica, enhanced by this book (2008 version, copyright 2008.) We traveled to San Jose, Monte Verde, Arenal/La Fortuna, and Sarapiqui. This book provided excellent descriptions of local sites and attractions and lodging. The sections on food, tipping, transportation, were all accurate and helpful. White water rafting and zip line recommendations were good. Recommended restaurants were good. The book is for the most part well organized.

My only gripe with the book is that the prices were off by 25-100% even though we traveled in the same year the book was published. For example, the butterfly exhibit in Monte Verde is quoted at $8 per peron, and it is actually ... Read More:

I purchased book a week before my trip and read on flight to Sydney. Soon determined there were a number of inaccuracies in the attraction pricing and other minor specifics (e.g., per Frommer there were 30 Explorer bus stops in Blue Mountain...there were actually 27, which Lonely Planet had right). The organization layout could be more simplistic (i.e., one attraction was discussed in various areas of the same section - used labeled flags to facilitate use). The book is bulky to carry around in backpack - editions should be available for specific regions (e.g., Sydney and surrounding). Worship service times and places could be added. Sydney is home to one of the most popular, largest non-denominational churches (Hillsong) and there was no mention of this (or ... Read More:

The book seems nice enough, and I am sure it is a wonderful travel companion, but does unfortunately not cover the north east area / Dolomites area (South Tyrol) of Italy - that's where we are planning to go - so I opted to return it.

I went to Beijing for the Olympics; bought every travel guide I could find. This travel guide was far better than all of them. The restaurant recommendations, though sparse, were right on. Very handy to have so I could show the Mandarin characters to the cab drivers. This guide was so invaluable, I lost one of the subway and had Amazon.com deliver a replacement to my hotel! FYI, I have both the 2007 and 2008 version, the 2008 version is FAR better than the 2007. This book made my trip far more enjoyable.

Save your money the Lonely Planet Guide "Grand Canyon National Parks Guide" is much better. Better written, better descriptions, more information and I found more accurate. This is by far the best well put together guide. I love it. It is small. It fits nicely in a pocket or a backpack. It has fantastic maps of various scales. Even a detachable foldable tear-resistant map. For a quick look there is a perfect scale unfolding map in the left part on the first page. It also contains good reference about BART (the train), and other public transportation.

I love the neighborhood walks feature. This is really a way to experience San Francisco. Every area discussed contains a contextual map, which will make sure that you'll never miss anything.

There are plenty of small, but well chosen pictures that give you idea about the things that you may want to see.
