I have found this book to be full of great information! I look forward to utilizing it while we are in Vegas to do things that we normally wouldn't know about or would be less likely to find. Sometimes it's hard to remember where you read about something but I'm excited about checking out some of things I've found while reading the guide.

The book has lots of good info for a first-time traveller to Ireland, but I'll know more about how useful the book is in early September. My daughter and I will be travelling to Ireland in late August and hope to put the book's info to use while we're there. Stay tuned....

This, like the other Frommer's Guides I have seen, seems to be timid, generic and void of fun, gritty, insider information. It gave some useful information to read on the plane about various wineries, but I left it in my hotel the days I headed out to Sonoma, and this I did on purpose. Do your research and buy a better guide.

Most of the trips were little loop trips that began and ended in various locations around Scotland. What I really needed was one loop route around Scotland for one week that included my desired destination cities: Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Drumnadrochit (Loch Ness) and Glasgow. So what I had to do on my own was to cobble together pieces of various stops out of the book to fit my planned itinerary and choice of hotel stops. Since I bought the Historic Scotland Pass I also tended to visit those sites more than others in the guide. These factors made this book more of a resource picking places to visit along the way than anything else. This book was very helpful on my recent 3 day trip to Austin. I used many of the suggestions (Austin Motel, Duck Adventure, Bat tour) and found them to be right on the mark. It was a good investment and made the trip much more organized.

I took a trip with my family to Oregon a few months ago and we used this book as our guide, and it ended up becoming our Oregon Bible. We stayed for about a week and stopped in many locations: Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, Bend, Eugene, and all the way up the coast from Florence to Cannon Beach (and we still barely scratched the surface, it seems).

We did the recommended restaurants, attractions, parks, hikes, and lodgings and found the descriptions for each were spot-on and detailed. We mostly ate and stayed at the no-star/one-star places and even those were excellent. I have used this book annually as a resource when I am visiting Cape Cod. I have purchased other books similar, but always return to the latest Frommer's version. This is indeed, user friendly, accurate and provides the 'off the beaten path' type of things to do that one might easily miss. I would highly recommend this book over others. It's very user friendly and full of interesting tidbits.
