Great compact book about what and where to go in Dubai. Wonderful for the quick stop over trip to Dubai. Easy to read.

I love their best lists - the best small towns, the best beaches, the best luxury hotels... It's a really great idea. The worst thing is that they don't even mention Murcia and the Costa Cálida at all! Come on guys, 704 pages and you still manage to miss a whole region out of the guide. They say they update it every year so let's see what the 2008 update brings!

Look out...I agree with the other review that Frommer's guides are usually great on the specifics and in the past I've had great experiences with them. So much so that the only guide I bought immediately for Ireland was Frommer's. But the Ireland guide steered us wrong a few times. We were only there for a week and we ran into 3 inconvenient errors in the book. For example, it stated the Dublin Writer's Museum closed at 5pm...well, it does but last admission is at 4:15 pm and they won't let you in no matter how much you beg after that time (although they were very nice about it). We also ran into an incorrect closing time for the Burren Center, which we had gone a bit out of our way for (5pm instead of 6 pm). And another bummer was going ... Read More:

I was in Vietnam (Jan/Feb 2008) and I took with me Lonely Planet and Rough Guide, and the better of the two guides is, by a thin margin, Lonely Planet.

However, there is much to commend Rough Guide Vietnam. It is worth buying just for the section that covers the history, religion (13 pages) and the overall culture of Vietnam. Excellent.

This guide is well laid out; breaking Vietnam into eight sections. Each section has a page that points out the places not to be missed. Each of these sections opens with a very good history and explanation of the area. Rough Guide has an excellent selection of restaurant and eateries (better than Lonely Planet's) with enticing write-ups that tell you what to try, "Goi bo, a salad of banana ... Read More:

I used this book while in Vietnam in August 2006. It was very helpful in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Cannot comment on it's usefulness in other cities.

Very handy as we drove around. Hit the main highlights of every region and even some off the beaten track. Useful maps within each section helped to plan the day's events.

I bought Rick Steve bcoz of the hype... apparently, this is a starter book, gives the basics. Rick Steve ignores Gstaad as a touristy town, but if you skip those few streets which are indeed touristy, this place has one of the most beautiful panoramic landscapes in Switzerland. Gstaad region is the main highlight of the Golden pass rail between Zweisimmen and Montreaux.

Gimmelwald depicts a true Swiss village, beautiful place portrayed well in his book.

I strongly suggest going over the forums on Trip Advisor for reviews and lodging information.

This is really a beautiful book, with lots of colorful pictures and everythig. It's very concise and small, what is really good and easy to carry.

It does not have as many information as other books, but is one of the best I've ever purchased.

I reccomend.
