We are now using the Eyewitness Travel Guides exclusively. We no longer need info about hotels, restaurants, etc., as we log on to Fodor's Travel to get the latest inside info from the Talk site. What we are looking for in a travel guide is inspiration, history and a sense of the country/city we will be visiting--we get all of that from Eyewitness Travel. We are now finishing the plans for our spring trip to Europe. The Amsterdam guide provides just what we need--lovely pictures to inspire us; practical info for visiting the city; history of the city to bring it to life. All this makes this guide just perfect for us.

The authors have golden tastebuds. I completely agree with their ratings of many restaurants. I also thought their ratings of various attractions were accurate.

This was an excellent guide for people who have never been to Arizona. You can't get lost with it. The way it's organized makes it easy to read. You can go directly to the section you need without wasting time flipping the pages.

We love to travel. We travelled alot before having our babies. We would like to continue travelling. I thought this book would be interesting. It is! It definately gives you some good ideas on where to take the kids. I would definately recommend this book to anyone with kids.

This is a very well written, organized book for anyone planning to travel to Alaska by cruise ship. It contains very helpful information comparing cruise lines, also. I highly recommend this book.

The new July 2008 edition has just reached me. It's a great advance over previous editions (see other reviews on this site). Many text-boxes and references to more specialist guides have been added. Everything has been updated and substandard accommodation deleted. It's very compact, light and easy-to-use - except for the street maps. These seem more difficult to read than ever! Extra plans showing the layout of ruins and of some museums are great. However, the prices given for flights and accommodation are already well out-of-date. Judging by the introductory sections, the guide was completed in about February 2008. Lonely Planet needs to speed-up its printing schedule, although I'm sure the Chinese printers were not to blame for any delay. This is an excellent,compact ... Read More:

I sure like this edition overall, though it had some shortcomings for my specific trip's purposes. Classic Frommers style -- concise, tight, useful info. Good complement to my other guides -- TimeOut Buenos Aires, Footprint and Fodors. Some key items about towns and lodging in Mendoza region I only found in Frommers. But, was weak on info for NW-Salta-JuyJuy region as compared to the others.

Eyewitness books are perfect. Compact, soft cover, extensive New England travel book. I love it! Has everything in a compact, easy to hold/handle travel book. Historical background, museums, recreation, parks, suggested hotels and restaurants. Highly recommend.
