This book presents the state of the art in dog training dating back to about 1975. The techniques are based on punishment, not building a positive relationship with your dog. The techniques will work with SOME dogs, but you will get better results with all dogs by using more modern techniques based on a better understanding of how dogs learn. I've had this book in my collection for many years. A self-taught knitter, I am not overly intimidated if a pattern is a bit sketchy or without the *pithy* details. Alas, this is my favorite EZ (Elizabeth Zimmerman) book. Why? She captures the essence of living life day to day with knitting in hand. Her description of picnicing in the car with sandwiches and hearty beer while in Westby, Wisconsin at a ski jumping competition seem out of place in a knitting book (especially when snipped out for this review), yet, it speaks to who EZ was.

I get a charge out of the 3 Corner Hat and while I've not knit it, I find her take on going for it in your knitting such a fresh approach despite the fact the book was written long long ago. I guess ... Read More:

This has been the best book on clothing I've seen. They are NOT here to tell you your style like "classic," "bohemian," "Victorian"... What they do is tell you how to deal with your body shape. They steer you toward the best style clothing for your body shape.

There are women and men of every shape in three heights: petite, average and tall and everyone is dressed in a black swimsuit (for women) and boxers (for men).
You determine where you fit in the shape category and height and then read the advise to look your best.

It is very straight forward and concise which is a huge help for just getting the facts.

It's amazing how different people see things differently. The cluttered and overdone look of Charles Faudree is precisely what I adore about his decorating style. The fact that he can put so many things into a room and it still be comfortable and charming is the mark of a master. Actually, I thought this book tended away slightly from the maximum "stuff" of his other previous books. His use of color in this era of drab neutral everything is refreshing and sharp and in many of the rooms in this book, negated the need for so many accessories.

This is the answer for parents who do not have the time to read huge books on crisis control when it comes to energy draining toddlers climbing the walls of parental tolerance!

The book covers the classic problems of toddlerhood and provides simple solutions. The index leads you to a right on message that can be read in just a couple of minutes. And for those who have more time to spend, there is a list of books for further read on each subject.

We have other books that are more in depth but tend to just collect dust in our household. Finding time for books is hard when pressed for time, but this one we use A LOT and would even take with us on travel.

A highly recommended book in deed!

I read the other reviews and think what else is there to say...but I have to put in my two cents worth anyway. This was my second wire working book in my library (it has since grown to encompass other more advanced aspects of jewelry wire applications, particularly with chains and stone wrapping). And yet it is my FAVORITE to review techniques, practice some aspects that I don't use often, and more. Why? Because the detailed information AND wonderful photographs that go with the descriptions. The statement Miller makes on page 59 - "When it comes to designing and making jewelry, I always keep three principles in mind: creativity, wearability and durability." The Library journal review does a huge disservice to this book.
