Nicky Epstein has surpassed even herself with this book! The story of knitting shown in the various patterns is exquisite. . . the background provided by the tour of the world is delightful.

I love many, many of the patterns and need to make them -- as soon as possible. I can see them worn by loved ones. This book pushed other knitting projects aside the minute I opened the cover.

And this will be a kniting book I read cover to cover -- a pleasure every page. I've enjoyed other Nicky Epstein books but this one is in a class all by itself. Bravo!

This book has some nice enough projects, and I like the patterns tucked away in the envelope. However, the photos aren't always of a good view or at a good angle, and many of them seem distracting because there is so much going on. Also, some of the projects pictured are not even a part of the book. The directions are often complicated, and I think some of the projects are more complicated than they need to be. I'm undecided as to whether or not I'll make anything from this book.

I truly enjoyed the multifacetedness of this book. The photos are just so lovely and her thoughts so interesting and the recipes look yummy. There is knitting, quilting crafting and baking. There is every area of domesticity one could want. Jane Brocket is very creative.

I discovered this book by reading the author's blog Yarnstorm. The book is beautiful in every way. My daughter and son-in-law were visiting and kept picking it up and looking through it. I sent them home with it as I could see they appreciated it.

Now I need another one!

Gosh!! All the creepies are so lovely that I would create a cute monster army! This is a nice work, all the stitches and patterns are so well described step by step that any crafter could make them. Good book.

There's a little something for everyone to knit in Mason-Dixon Knitting. I love the concept of two friends, from different regions of the country, sharing their knitting experiences. The patterns vary from simple to challenging and cover a multitude of household to wearable items. I like the authors' encouragement for knitters to break free of patterns and create our own works of knitted "art." The book is like an excellent blog on knitting!

McMurtry provides an interesting peek into the life of a "bookman", a person who collects and deals in valuable books. He describes his beginnings in a bookless household and how he developed a love for reading and writing, and how he moved into the world of book dealing. Bookmen are a unique lot and one wonders how they manage to make a good living consistently, although one can see how the more established bookshops would be able to do this. Nevertheless, McMurtry and his colleagues do manage, for the most part, to make a living, although clearly McMurtry's must be vastly supplemented from royalties from his own books and his successful screenwriting career (he doesn't state this, and I am assuming it, but I think it makes sense).
