This book IS for beginners. It has excellent photos and figures, with clear, precise instructions. It also has side-bars pointing out potential pitfalls and how to deal with them. It gives a choice of methods, leaving the beginner free to explore what works best for him or her.
If you're an advanced sock knitter, I personally probably wouldn't spend the money, since any issues you might be having can be researched on the internet for free.

The first time I read this book, I sat on the floor of Barns and Nobles and giggled through the whole thing. It's funny, touching, and a must read for dog lovers - especially if you've had a rough day and need a little help appreciating the simple things. Plus, it makes a great gift, and all of the author's proceeds go to benefit Canine Companions for Independence.

I took both of Mary's classes that correspond to this book. It is an incredible way of machine quilting. Mary is wonderful, the book the wonderful, the system is wonderful. Even if you have not taken the class, the book contains beautiful, vibrant colors of examples and Mary's directions are very easy to understand. They covers it all. Can't recommend this book enough. 5 stars without question!

I learn to knit socks with this book,and I don't mind DPNs. So,I didn't want to fall victim to Second Sock Syndrome. I love this technique, but I agree with some other reviewers; I wish there were more pictures and better explanations of the technique for the newbies. I like & have made a few of the patterns. Also, some toe up directions would be nice.

My favorite kind of book. This is such a rewarding book - so much information, such insights, interesting case studies, lots of documentation in the form of scientific studies. I loved this book so much that after reading the library copy, I asked to have it as a birthday present, and then turned around and bought two copies of it as a CD to give my son-in-law and a friend to listen to in the car. I am so grateful to the author for all that I learned and the growth I felt in my understanding of the animal and human world.

My aussie is on her third agility class and we love it. Got the book for a birthday gift from someone who thought we might enjoy it. My first thought was what am I going to learn from a book when I am paying close to a $100 a month for classes. Turns out there was alot of really useful information packed into this book without being over loaded. The writing style is easy to follow and flows very well. Now when I do my training I have a few tips that the instructor has not shown us which has made learing much easier.

The only thing I would like to mention is dog agility takes up alot of space and the equipment is somewhat expensive. It is not likely that you will be able to do this in your backyard. You should make sure that training ... Read More:
