I purchased this book in advance of my move to Jax nearly a year ago. It has some great, honest reviews about a lot of the popular sites in the city, along with highlighting some of the more obsure gems that I was excited to explore. Even with all the information available on the web, I still like to peruse the book for quick ideas on what to do and where to go. It's a fun read and I have learned a lot about some of the great things in Jacksonville because of this neat compilation. Overall, a great introduction to an interesting city. Cheers!

Don't waste your money on this book. The pictures are terrible as is the advise on what to see and where to go. The book's style and look is as if it were written forty years ago. You are better off using another source for your Oregon travel information.

I was very disappointed in this book, especially since all the reviews were highly favorable when I ordered it. The only redeeming value of this book was that adding it to my order had put me over the order total required to qualify for a $5 discount. I would have sent it back but the refund would not have been worth the bother.

The book is primarily in question and answer format. Most of the answers range in length between one paragraph and a couple of pages. This isn't too bad when using the book for reference but it does not make for great readability.

My biggest complaint is that the book claims to be "an insider's guide" but it provides limited guidance. For example, there are ten pages of outfitters ... Read More:

THE INSIDERS' GUIDE TO DENVER is a great book that really gives you a feel for Denver and its outlying suburbs, describing where the best shopping is, including most of the area's major malls, as well as where the most desirable neighborhoods, tastiest food, and highest-quality health care are. The section on the radio stations, however, needs to be taken like the humor in AMERICAN WEDDING, 13 GOING ON 30, ALONG CAME POLLY, SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE, THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS, DATE MOVIE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, HARVARD MAN, WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU, GARFIELD: THE MOVIE, DRIVE ME CRAZY, or GARFIELD: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES for several reasons: KKHK is now KQMT, and classic-rocker KRFX belongs under Rock, not Oldies. The Insiders Guide to New Orleans is a giant step forward in the city guidebook field as well as the best guide I have found to New Orleans. The authors put history in its true place as an introduction to one of the world's most fascinating cities and then present the destination in fine style as experts on the city, its attractions, its almost embarrassing riches in restaurants, its quirkiness and more.
