Although I own and sell this book*, I've only browsed it quickly, but since there were no reviews up thought I'd at least tell you this much: this is a beautiful book, chock full of really great photos and the info seems totally up to date. I got a bunch by accident and thus can offer such a great deal.

I purchased this book prior to planning and completing a driving trip thru Texas. I found the book helpful in prioritizing where to go based on what my family would like to see and do. Everything in San Antonio, Sonora and Big Bend National Park was right on the money! I also appreciate the photos that embellish the well written text. The $16 I spent on this book was returned in time and money and represented a real value when the typical total day's cost on a vacation easily exceeds $200. I do recommend this book for any Texas trip.

As we are planning a trip to Bali, this book does not provide you with a concise way to figure out what items are a "must-see" in Bali. It does have nice high level maps of each area of Bali (and Lombok - if you are interested) and colorful pictures, and breaks it up by region, but in no way helps you figure out what part of Bali to see, what to see in any part (and what isn't worth it) and where to stay. It is more a data repository of info rather than a perspective about what is good/bad. So if you want a list of everything with info about it, and not reccomendations, this book is good. If you haven't been there and need reccomendations, then this is not the book for you.

This book is something you'd want to read before going to Sweden, rather than lugging it along with you. However, it did have the best map of Stockholm in it of all of our travel books. You can usually pick up a decent map for free, though, when you get there in the back of the booklet that comes with a Stockholm Card.

The information in the book is great for getting more familiar with Sweden and Swedes, but not being a native-born Swede, I can vouch for its accuracy. It seemed pretty good to me, though.

As a seasoned traveler, the Insight Guides series have become my favorite travel companion. They are not the traditional guides that tell you the cheap places to stay and eat, rather they are detailed guides to the history, culture and things to see in the countries you will be visiting, complete with great photos. They are well researched and I learn things about the country that even the natives don't know. If you are looking for a "where to sleep" kind of guide, you will have to purchase a second, more traditional travel book (like Lonely Planet, etc.). I personally would not think about visiting a country without first reading the "Insite Guide."

Writing about the Greek Islands is not a simple matter of going there, taking some pictures, and drafting a brief description of the place. This is due in part to the unique nature of the Greek Islands, which are a very diverse and complex collection of locations, cultures, landscapes, and even climates. There are significant logistical concerns because getting to some of these islands can be tricky. And there's also the fact that, while some places cater to package tourists and are overrun with people during certain times of the year, others are far more remote and peaceful.
