EYEWITNESS TRAVEL GUIDES are the best guides you could find. I've bought every one they have published to the places I have visited, and always know where I want to go and what are the most important places to visit,
with the pictures and 3D images of the buildings and maps I don't get surprises as to visit a place not worth while. You optimize your travel time. I have about twenty of their guides, just hope they increase the places they review in the near future.

I have planned several trips to Panama using this book. The writing is clear, concise, and is generally accurate. I wouldn't say the book has an excess of personality to it (you wouldn't read it for fun), but it covers just about everything you'd want to know for your trip.

My only quibble is that this book needs to be updated. Panama is changing quite rapidly (the prices as well as the physical landscape) and a 3 year book will rapidly lose its value.

All in all, still the best around at what it does.

When I bought this, I was expecting something a bit more substantial. It is literally a small laminated pamphlet. However, I think it is useful to have (in addition to a more extensive field guide-type wildlife book). It's much more convenient to use for quick identification than trying to whip out a big book on a hike. I also like that it's durable and laminated. I do plan to use this on my trip, but this would also be a good resource for kids to use also.

Call me old fashioned but from what I recall camping involves pitching a tent and sleeping in it. This book has very little to do with camping. It has a lot of information concerning driving around Mexico in those enormous RV's (sometimes I wonder what is the point of leaving home).

This book does have a lot of useful information concerning border crossings and insurance and the like. It also some very nice descriptions of the towns and activities in the area.

This atlas has nice size easy to read maps, helpful city map inserts, spiral binding for ease of keeping a page open. Recommend it highly.

I bought this map for my first two week trip to Buenos Aires in 2006. Used it to walk around and BA is a great walking city. The map covers all the tourist areas of BA and I do not recall once something was wrong with the map. Included in the map is a diagram of the subway and on the map itself are the stops. Which I found helpful to find the closet subway stop to my destination. I can recommend this map for people who like to walk.

One more thing, the map is laminated so I could write on it and draw dots on it as a reference point.

This is a very good guide, with tons of information on everything in the area. Its very well written also, and with a very good history section (the Maya civilization and their warrior-ways are very interesting and not generally known by most travellers).
We used it on our 1-week trip to the Tulum area with its eco-rustic 1-story oceanfront cabins(which range from $20 to $300 per night).
The only section that I would reccommend including is a CENOTE section (Cenotes are the unique caves and tunnels filled with water, which only exist in the Yucatan peninsula). The way the authors arranged the Cenote information in the book is just by mentioning the Cenotes in each region.

excellent, detailed, in depth summary of Cusco's attractions and major treks. Good, clear, informative write ups on the ruins, towns and hikes in the area with maps.

Really handy! It's unbelievable the amount of rare phrases that are in this book that you can't find anywhere else (example: Pull my finger= Pushe meu dedo). It covers a wide variety of topics like food and sex and parties. However, I found that the pronunciations guide kinda sucks. I'm not sure if I learned a different accent of Brazilian Portuguese (my teacher is from Brasilia), but the phonetic pronunciations they include were way off (for example, they never mention the fact that 'te' as in 'arte' is pronounced like 'chee' as in 'cheese'). Also, the organization of the book could have been a lot better. It took me HOURS to find a basic phrase (I'm hungry) because it was not put in a section with food or anything food/restaurant related. But for the reasonable price ... Read More:
