I first used this guide when we began visiting Chicago several years ago. We stumbled upon it at a Borders on Michigan Ave. It has truly proved invaluable. To this day (as residents of Chicago), we use this guide to figure out where L stops and landmarks are. I will keep this map until it falls apart. Not only that, it's laminated, which makes it easy to "rough up" without worrying if it will tear.

Although this book may not always be helpful when you are preparing your trip, it served me pretty well once I was already there. An easily accesible tube map is a plus. The street maps may not always be clearly labeled, but they are sufficient to allow someone with a decent sense of direction to get from point A to point B. The listing of attractions is reasonably complete and accurate. However, the list of lodgings is not. An exhaustive list is certainly impossible to publish in any guide book. However, this book lists only a handful of hotels in each neighborhood. i just recently took a 9 month trip to australia and this guide definately turned out to be my bible. i liked the layout of the book and would choose lets go over lonely planet in a heartbeat. i found lets go has more maps with better detail. in my opinion it fits the same amount of info in a lighter and more flexible binding book.

This book has 4 maps of Florence which I used over and over. It also has info organized into what there is to do in each little area. This was really helpful when we were in an area and had time to catch another museum, palace, etc. I would recommend it. Next time I travel to a city for any amount of time, I will look for another Let's Go Map.

This book lacks some serious items, such as maps! The Lonely Planet guide is far superior.

As soon as I got this book, I took out the inner pages, and just used the cover. The Metro and city maps printed on it proved indispensible. The plastic coated cover made it last through jacket pockets, jean pockets and rush hour Metro human sardines. You *need* a good portable map, and I found this one to be the one for me!

If you see something in this book, remember it, because the index is basically useless. I read something I wanted to return to and have flipped through 100 times trying to find it again to no avail.

I used the let's go Rome guide two years ago, and the Paris one the year before that. I have tried many other guidebooks, and found them all shamefully unhelpful and difficult to use. I'm buying a new Rome guide online now precisely because the others are no good. besides, the historical anecdotes scattered througout (especially the ones about the popes) make perfect light reading during down time.
