Let's Go never disappoints. Their recommendations are on point, geared towards my traveling style as 20-something who is well-traveled. It's information is easy to find and well laid out. It's information is concise. It's just the complete package.

Lonely Planet is way too popular to be useful to me, and luckily there's a better alternative: Let's Go.

An Excellent resource for getting around San Francisco, CA, USA ... it's a tough city to drive in, and you always need a good map or reference around to get where you are going. Tells you where all the hot spots are - a must by for those that live in San Fran as well as tourists!

I spent about 8 months in Italy last year with this book as a my bible. It helped me find the 'off-the-beaten-path' experience i was looking for especially in some of the major cities where it can be easy to get sucked into the tourist trap. I loved this book so much I actually bought another copy after losing my first, and the second quickly took on a beating. What I like most is it allows you to choose, there are enough major sites to keep you busy but enough quirky spots to make it an adventure. It does an excellent job with restaurants as well and after studying in Parma my standards were pretty high. I bought this map/book because I was looking for a detailed map of the city. It's a good map of downtown , but it doesn't get down to complete street level, and it cuts off a good part of the outlying neighborhoods that Chicago encompasses.
If you're going to make a map of Chicago, you should really include the whole thing. Let's Go, Inc. cuts off parts of wicker park, ukrainian village, and logan square, and parts of the north side. It concentrates too much on the near downtown area, and forgets about some worthwhile neighborhoods that people might want to visit or look for homes in.

After traveling in Europe for four months now, I have used the Let's Go, Lonely Planet, Frommers, and Rick Steves guides. The only thing I really appreciated with the Let's Go books were their colored maps of certain major cities (which you can pick up at any tourist information center without buying the book). Their directions for getting to places were very vague--I couldn't find half of the hostels or restaurants I wanted to go to with this book. In addition, I found some of their smaller maps to place icons of places in completely different locations than where they were located in the city, but they still gave the correct address. Lonely Planet books were much more reliable, and I believe that the Rick Steves' books are the best on the market ... Read More:

I don't write reviews normally, in fact this is my first, but feel I have to warn people about this book. DON'T BUY IT!!!! I have no idea why on earth the following reviews give 5 stars, I suspect maybe the Let's Go staff itself wrote these. Or the reivew is for Paris itself, in which case there aren't enough stars for the enchanting city of lights. Note: Amazon doesn't give you the option of zero stars.

I've just returned from Paris and unless you like being inconvienenced, wasting time and money, and feeling very frustrated, go with a Lonely Planet phrase book and a Plan de Paris (you can purchase these in Paris bookstores) and you will be way better off than trying to follow the horrid and inaccurate suggestions in this book.
