A book that has stood the test of time. First released in 1965, it hasn't dated at all. A true account of the brutal slaying of four members of a rural Kansas family and the subsequent apprehension of the murderous duo. A fascinating, highly-engaging, harrowing, and moving tale of evil that lurks within the hearts of men.

The book proved to be highly controversial upon its release since it seemed to make a genuine effort not only to understand the social factors that help shape the making of a psychopath, but also to understand the points-of-view, however horrifying and disgusting as they maybe, of the perpetrators of the crime.

After some deceptive pieces of work (Lisey's story, Cell...) SK gets back to real writing and makes the work done.

Duma Key is well built and innovative, with fresh ideas and, most importantly, the hypnotic way of involving the reader that only the best books of him do have.

I did appreciate very much the language, returned to usual heights of descriptive capability, and the very interesting excursion in the world of oniric painting and the consequences of a deep brain trauma on dormient capabilities.

Well done, original and entirely enjoiable. Just a step under masterpieces like "IT" and "The Langoliers", but a short step.

The return of yet another Lucas Davenport heralds a further chapter in the life of Lucas Davenport. Set in the enviroment of Goth culture, an alien and negative enviroment for most readers. The characters of the victims remain somewhat remote and unsympathedtic more disposable cardboard cutouts than people. The excellent writing and and sheer story telling ability of Mr Sandford however can not hide the slight staleness of the Davenport character who should by all rights have retired (in the real world) some time ago. The plot twists and accompanying psychological disorder of the perpetrator stretched my suspension of disbelief almost to breaking point.

It is always a pleasure to find a new and unique new series. I was not interested in this series at first because the blog just didn't call to me, but after witnessing so many fabulous reviews on this book I wanted to know what all the hype was. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this book was just as fabulous as so many reviewers implied.

The story is bursting with mystery, danger, action and suspense. I especially liked the futuristic world of magic created by Andrews. It was very well thought out. I also liked Andrews characterization. Most paperbacks are not known for creating such well-rounded characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

A Clockwork Orange draws in the simple reader with its raw brutality and violence and leaves them greatly affected with the social implications of this literary masterpiece.

Regarding the Russian-English slang spoken by the protagonist, Alex, and his fellow hoodlums; it's initially hard to comprehend, but after the first chapter, one should have no problem reading it.

This book is more than just a thriller - it also touches on the psychological and social aspects that are prevalent in today's society.

The author of fight club, Chuck Palahniuk's novel Choke is my personal favorite. Its about a guy on his fourth step in his sexalocholic class and has to visit his mother who is out of her mind. This novel is very good in humor and makes you want if your personality was shaped my you own mom. I recomemend that anyone who has like the movie fight club will like this book. I also recomenend his other books as well.

I'm disturbed by the amount of people bashing _Grendel_. It's simply an amazing novel. Perhaps those offering sour reviews simply misunderstand the novel--Gardner, from my reading, isn't really attempting a retelling of the _Beowulf_ story. Instead, he's attempting to cast a philosophical statement *against* a philosophical school of thought that was, and still is, gaining ground when Gardner wrote _Grendel_: existentialism and nihilism, which is embraced by the dragon. Gardner just uses the Beowulf story to frame this social commentary. Consider Gardner's philosophical statement: in a time in history when so many were and are embracing the pointlessness of life, Gardner tells us that there is meaning and real in the world around us.
