I bought this book as a guide before my honeymoon. I had already looked around a couple of eco-tourism web sites and booked a couple of hotels; in one case, I changed my mind because of this book and ended up canceling a booking. It's a well-organized guide with astonishing clarity and frankness. Some off-hand tips include who to talk to (first names) at travel agencies/resorts/etc. for tips and deals, what times of day and/or days of the week you should avoid certain activities, what environment to expect at a hotel or resort (Partying backpackers? Couples only? Family-oriented? I live in Houston and bought this for info on the Hill Country. I can live with most of the entries being uselessly brief. I can life with his hotel recommendations in the Hill Country that consist of standard chain motels that I probably am intelligent enough to find without buying a guidebook But even though this is a 2004 edition, I found lots of info for both Houston and the Hill Country that is ten and sometimes 15 years out of date. Much of the Houston restaurant section is unchanged from the earlier edition, and includes restaurants that have not existed for at least 10-15 years. We recently completed a trip to Eastern Tennessee and brought along several guidebooks. After a few days, it became apparent that one guidebook was head and shoulders above the others: Moon Handbooks Tennessee by Jeff Bradley. It is both comprehensive and concise. It contains lots of local color without drowning in it. And it is spot on in its evaluation of sights. (We didn't have any occasion to use it for lodging or food.)

Full credit to Jeff Bradley for a writing syle that is one of the best in the business. He keeps things lively without neglecting the basic facts that need to be conveyed. I've lived and worked in Belize for approximately 6 months/year for the past 10 years. The Moon Handbooks Belize is the most accurate and up to date book on the market. Josh has spent months in Belize to insure it's accuracy...everything thing he writes is from first hand experience.

I highly recommend this guidebook for your travels in Honduras. On the whole, it's very thorough and complete. I do wish it had more detail, however, for San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.

A friend I traveled with had the Lonely Planet Honduras guidebook, and we both agreed that Moon was more helpful -- it had a wider range of information and was more accurate.

I'm lucky to have a good public library near me and I checked out every guidebook on Utah they had--nine or ten. The Moon guide is the best of the lot. I liked it so much I bought it and took it with me to a recent 8-day visit to the state, and was able to give it an "on the ground" trial.

The Moon guides are unique in the depth of coverage. No sketchy descriptions of attractions here--each place is covered in detail and depth. The Utah guide includes the "little things" that might interest you no matter what kinds of scenery or attractions you like--or you can pass them by. The maps are good, but of course no book map can replace a good full-size folding map. Sidebars or "boxes" in the text pick out particular bits of information that make the area come ... Read More:

just spent 10 days in the canadian rockies and this guidebook made the trip great. it's an amazing area and information in this book is well organized and let's you plan your trip well. one thing we did find off was the grading system for hikes, some "easy" hikes were definitely not. outside of that this guidebook was very complete and accurate, from sights, to restaurants and lodging. one of the best travel books i've ever used.
