Before purchasing this I went to a local bookstore and looked through all the N.O. travel guides. This book outshone the others - it contains lots of great information on N.O. and its surrounding areas. There is a lot of detail and off-the-beaten-path highlights not found in other travel guides. I live on the Northshore of N.O. and through this guide, have discovered places I hadn't heard about before - and that are well worth visiting. Also important to note is that this travel guide seems to be up-to-date on places that are still closed post-Katrina.

I just got home from Peru, Chile and Punta Arenas. Book was much more than I needed for my limited travels in Patagonia, but what I needed to know was certainly there. Good job Mr. Bernhardson.

I first bought this book a couple of months ago and was really pleased at first. It seemed to give good information on a variety of areas and gave recommendations of things to do that were probably off of the beaten path. Based on the book I drew up a list of the places in Ecuador that I would like to visit and laid the book down for a little bit until I had firmed up my plans some more.

On picking up the book again I started to see some of the glaring errors I had missed in my first reading. There are very few maps of the cities that are spoken of in the book so it doesn't really do you any good to know an address if you have no idea where in the city it is. An excellent general travel review of the Micronesian islands. There's so much to see and do in paradise, that it's hard to cover everything in one volume covering over thousands of islands (you can either count at high or low tide) and many, many square kilometers of pristine, and sometimes wild, open ocean. I enjoyed the layout, maps, food and drug choices,and listing some of the more signiciant sights, along with a touch of the local languages and customs. I recommend it for any traveller going through, especially if you ride on the Continental island hopper, and get off at each major airport for a 2-3 days visit. The book is also hardy and fits nicely in a packsack. Good job, Author Levy.

I've always enjoyed the eclectic nature of Moon guides and the Florida Gulf Coast guide is no exception. In hind sight I should have looked for an everglades guide but this one sufficed. A lot of the information is now dated because the last year's hurricane season. the biggest problem I ran into was places either being closed or having reduced hours. I also found the organization of the Everglades informations a bit scattered. Still I'd recommend this guide.

Being a traveller who usually swears by Lonely Planet guides, I have to admit that when it came down to taking one or the other, the Lonely Planet book stayed at home and this one made it into my backpack. It's just plain good. I will be sure to check out other Moon Guides in the future. Their series might soon be alongside my LP and Footprint Guide collections.

An excellent guide to the islands of French Polynesia. We used it during the planning stages to pick our resorts and research the activities we might be interested in in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. Each day we were there, the book helped us plan our activities and learn more about the islands and what they had to offer. The island and Papeete city maps were of great use finding our way around. The book covers all islands of French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. I enjoyed reading about all the others we didn't visit. Will definitely take this our next trip down. Highly recommended.

This was published in May 2007, and I consulted it during my stay in June and July. I can vouch for its accuracy. The strength of the book lies in the fact that as far as I can tell from the acknowledgements (worth reading for their charm), the whole was written by a young American ex-pat, Camille DeAngelis, and therefore has the consistency of a single p-o-v that reflects her encyclopedic knowledge, tempered enthusiasm, and evident stamina. While the guide is markedly less comprehensive on history, sightseeing, and local lore than competing guides, it is very thorough on practicalities such as civilized accomodation, decent eats, bus routes, and ATMs. I would use this to work out the nitty-gritty of planning the details of staying once you figure out ...
