I just got this book this afternoon and have basically just skimmed through it to see what was said about my area and some areas I've visited. I was disappointed that there were no photos of any of the places mentioned, just a couple sketches here and there. I was expecting some little known places to be mentioned, but for the most part, I've either already heard of all of them (in my area) or been there! Most of the places mentioned are readily found on the various websites for each city, so an internet search would have given me the same results. I was kind of hoping to have a guide informing me of quirky places to visit as I was travelling, with photos of the neat places I could visit along the way. This is more like the Sunday paper ... This was a very informative book. I gave this to my friend for his birthday. We sat down with our other friend and planned out places to go. It was very informative about the places and even listed the town I live in.
I recommend it to anyone who likes day trips or learning about different places.

I wanted to use this book to plan some interesting stops along and off of I-40. However, there are minimal maps and unless you look up every single town in each division of Tennessee, you have no idea if they are anywhere near I-40 or not. When I have purchased from the "Off the Beaten Path" guides in the past, they had maps with the places discussed marked at least in some way. I frankly don't know how you would much use this book to plan a trip across Tennesee. It would only be helpful if you lived there and wanted to explore around a segment of the state.

This is a very disappointing guide book. Supposedly the information in this 2003 edition is up-to-date, but I was finding information that is 3 to 4 years out of date. Hotel price ranges in particular are outdated.

In addition to the outdated information, a big failure of this guide book is the lack of photos. There are no photos inside to make a person interested in visiting the country. Photos showing the bustling markets, beautiful beaches, historical temples make a person want to see those places in person much more than the dry text descriptions.

One positive thing about the guide is information on excursions to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Saves one from buying an entire guide on Cambodia just to learn about Angkor Wat.

I used this guidebook recently for a brief visit to Georgia. It guided me to Okefeenokee swamp park, the town of Brunswick, and the Ocmulgee National Monument. I will use the guide again on my next trip.

The guidebook divides Georgia into seven regions and lists interesting places to stay, old-time restaurants, museums and art galleries, annual events, and assorted trivia. Sidebars recount tidbits of Georgia history and contain delectable recipes for regional dishes such as Brunswick stew and seafood. This guidebook is light and small and well-organized and all you need to find your way to interesting spots, especially if you're the sort of person who's allergic to shopping malls and cooker-cutter hotels and restaurants

Unless you live in Montana or are very familiar with the State, then this book will be of little use. Get yourself a good guide book and a detailed map. Montana is a beautiful state, but this book was not helpful on our recent trip. And it's a very dull read, in my humble opinion. Pass.
