The format is easy to follow by region and it lists many of the smaller cities in each region. The maps offer are clear and the descriptions accurate. It guided me to Okefeenokee swamp park, the town of Brunswick, and the Ocmulgee National Monument. I will use the guide again on my next trip. The guidebook divides Georgia into seven regions and lists interesting places to stay, old-time restaurants, museums and art galleries, annual events, and assorted trivia. Sidebars recount tidbits of Georgia history and contain delectable recipes for regional dishes such as Brunswick stew and seafood. This guidebook is light and small and well-organized and all you need to find your way to interesting spots, especially if you're the sort of person who's allergic to shopping malls and cooker-cutter hotels and restaurants ... .Fodor's Vietnam, 3rd Edition: The Guide for All Budgets, Where to Stay, Eat, and Explore On and Off the Beaten Path (Fodor's Gold Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Off the Beaten Path by: Fodor's June 03, 2003 This is a very disappointing guide book. Supposedly the information in this 2003 edition is up-to-date, but I was finding information that is 3 to 4 years out of date. Hotel price ranges in particular are outdated. In addition to the outdated information, a big failure of this guide book is the lack of photos. There are no photos inside to make a person interested in visiting the country. Photos showing the bustling markets, beautiful beaches, historical temples make a person want to see those places in person much more than the dry text descriptions. One positive thing about the guide is information on excursions to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Saves one from buying an entire guide on Cambodia just to learn about Angkor Wat. It was a convenient source for side excursions and ways to see things off the "tourist trail". It also presents little known facts and anecdotes. I also own its companion for Texas. You cannot say you truly know a place unless you own one of these books for the State in which you live. The books open a whole new world of weekend excursions to places and things odd, quirky, historic and wonderful. The author led us to the Frisco ghost town and told the history of the town that the roadside plaque didn't cover. ALl are worthy of three-and-a-half stars. Only dis- agreement with them is stupid Evolu- tion references in them. Thousands, Hundreds of thousands, millions of year, no sack! Each written by diff- erent authors familiar to each state profiled. Arizona came to mind first, so I will preview with my own inter- ests; Old Tucson is very good; espec- ially the Western town. Peoria and Phoenix are nice places to stay if you know someone. Grand Canyon con- firms God's wonders. No way to be an 'athiest' after seeing that!
