My sincerest apologies!!! Everything I said about Fodor's was meant for the abovementioned Frommer's. I had ordered Frommer's as a 'used' book, since Amazon was out of stock. Unfortunately, the supplier, 'topscholarbooks', who claimed to have it, didn't. After waiting several weeks we contacted them and managed to get a refund. We had no time to purchase another. There were also far too many attractions, restaurants, hotels, exhibits, etc; that have been closed for more than eight years that were included. I had hoped to give this book to relatives just moving back to "The Mitten State" after having lived in the Pacific Northwest for 40+ years. If I had given the book to them before reading it myself to point out favorites they'd be driving in circles and wasting oodles of gas. If you have time to read entire chapters of this book before your visit to Mississippi it will certainly provide helpful information. The book provides back stories and insider tips. However, this guide is not well organized or efficient to use. There is no easy summary of must sees - or quick ways to find a particular destination. Also, it can be difficult to find sites highlighted in the book if you are not familiar with local roads - you almost need to plan ahead of time and prepare mapquest maps. Harris January 01, 2004 I've been reading (devouring is more like it) this book for the last 3 days. I tell you, Richard Harris did a great job of not only pointing out unique finds but writing about them in such a way that I want to see them all !! Lots of quaint B&B and unique hotels and restaurants are listed with phone numbers. Lots of the park listings have warnings if they might be closed for "tribal member only" events with a phone number to call to double-check. This part of the book is worth the read alone. I gave this review 4 stars and would almost drop it to 3 stars because the maps are useless - Only the MAJOR highways and almost NONE of the things written about in the book show up on any of the enclosed maps.
