Being someone who loves motorcycles, travel, and thought Long Way Round was awesome, this book was already high on my list. I saw the one time showing of the Long Way Down movie and I am currently watching the full series on the Fox Reality Channel. I love this stuff!

So why didn't the book get five stars? Well, I think it suffered from being the second time around. It never felt quite as much of a seat of your pants adventure as Long Way Round did. I suppose it shouldn't since this is the second major trip and all the crew kind of know what they are doing. I also thought that having Ewan McGregor bring his wife along for part of the trip did change the dynamic of the trip, as you'll hear Charley Boorman say a few times. ... Read More:

This is the book I used when I got started reloading about 10 years ago, and this book gave me just what I needed. When I first got the itch to load my own ammunition, I was overwhelmed by the amount of information and terminology involved in this fascinating field/hobby. It was very difficult to take all the individual pieces of information that I had and form it into an understandable process. I was snowed in under a blizzard of data that I was piecing together through chat rooms and web sites. Everyone was very helpful - basically shooters are the most helpful people I know - but still I was just getting fragments without a solid, complete overview. This is a great book. Lots of good info on ingredients found in cleaning and beauty items. Have recommended this book to several of my friends. Would definitely buy it again.
The only drawback to this book is that the pages started comming loose from the binding within a few days of flipping through it. No problem, though. Just took it down to the office supply store and had a spiral binding put on it for a few dollars.

What a terrific book. I am a novice gardener, and found this to be a real page-turner. Color pictures on every page. Plenty of info on care, resources, inventive ideas for really lovely designs - just inspiring. Don't hesitate on this one. Happy gardening!

This revised edition replaced my old worn out copy that I've had since the mid 1980s. This guide, and the Peterson's are two must have guides for every avid birder. When identifying a new bird, I find myself reaching for this one first. Because of the colored thumb tabs, identification is usually very fast. But if I am still not completely sure, then I'll pick up the Petersons and combine information. Of course one can never have too many bird books, but owning both the Audubons and the Petersons will have you covered.

This is mis-labeled. There is a link from the paperback book to this article. I mistook it as being an online copy of the book, which I need to read for a report for my Psychology class. It is not, and I accidentally wasted 6 bucks on this. It is not a paperback copy of the book; it is merely some random article by some random person. The confusion should probably be cleared up.

While the preface and first chapter of this book do a good job of simply explaining the terms used in statistics, I find that the authors needed to spend more time fleshing out the concepts. I've been looking for a statistics book that focuses on ecology and the environment, and I believe this one can be it; I would like to have seen different scenarios used in the examples, rather than one scenario, then a rapid shuffle forward to the next example. A good one to add to a statistics course, or to discuss in a class setting...or even with someone who knows statistics inside-out.

If you want to know what the near future holds for you, your family and society, Heinberg does a reasonably good job at describing it for the reader. There are, in my opinion, some limits to his content, as well as some "disinformation" about the field of economics, but these are minor issues that do not distract from the meat and potatoes of his message.

The primary focus of this work is based on Peak Oil Theory that was presented by American geologist M. King Hubbert in the mid-1950's -- the fact that the production of available oil will peak, then run out. One of the major criticisms of Hubbert, by the way, is that he was a geologist and not an economist and therefore had limited understanding of the market forces in the decline phases ... Read More:

Mr. Fagan has written an easily read account of climate and its effects on history. He makes the story interesting and wanting the reader to forge ahead into the book. He unfortunately starts off the prologue and spottily throughout the book with a false premise. He believes that man has caused much of the global change in climate since 1860, which is of course completely false. If he had only followed the logic he uses throughout the book, an opposite conclusion would be more appropriate, that climate change is just that-change and will happen whether man is on the earth or not. With this notable exception, the book is a good read. Don't get drowned by all the numbers thrown around from chapter to chapter. Skip over the decimals surrounded by numerals and enjoy ...
