This book is great. It tells you basic needs for survival like how to find water, make shelter and purify water. It is just a great book. If you frequently travel to different places like jungles or forests and you want to know how to survive in the wild if you get lost, this is a good book to get.

Survival is a skill, and one you need to work on, you can have all the books in the world but unless your actually go out and try these things it's nothing but a collection of paper.

that being said this is an excellent source of information that you can use to attempt trapping food (Please check that it's legal in your area and remember where you placed all your traps as well as make sure you take them down after you have proven they work.) making camps and fire, cooking and eating and so forth.

hopefully you will never NEED This book, but if you do i hope you made the right choice and bought it.

I am not a mountain climber, spelunker or even a camper, but I loved this book. You don't need to have an outdoor passion to appreciate the incredible story. Being able to get a glimpse into what the human body and mind are capable of is fascinating. And, seeing how so many reacted under the most disastrous of circumstances was unbelievable. I could not put this book down. It was as good as any fictional mystery I've read and kept my undivided attention for the few nights it took me to devour it.

It's about time we shed our Euro-centric views and gave more credit to the indigenous people that were here first. This book is well written and makes use of the research of others. It is nicely organized and collected together in one place. None is original research and not too surprising if you are familar with the field. However if this is new to you then you might be in for a surprise, history is not quite the way you might have been taught. A good quick read, lively, engaging and thought provoking. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to more from the same author.
