This book is pretty general and its sections are broken up into newborn, 0-3 months, 4-7 months and so on. What I wanted was a book that talked about each month individually since baby's change and develop so much so quickly. This book is just too general for me. It does have good info, just not as much as I'd like.

Some of the writing is uneven, the plot a little bit disjointed, but in fairness to the author, he is writing from the perspective of a twelve-year-old boy.

This book is vitally important, because there still isn't much in the way of non-fiction written by grown men who were abused as children. Their needs are completely different from those of girls. Pelzer's reaction to being placed into his first foster home - literally bouncing off the walls, jumping on all the beds, is perfectly normal behavior for a boy who has been abused. At times, boys taken into foster care are doubly abused, by well-meaning caretakers who don't understand the unique temperament of the abused male child.

I went over the hell of pain reading this book. I made skyscraper of realizations, and so far made only couple of floors of improvements. I am still in 'five steps forward, four steps back' motion while working on myself. But this lifechanging book... I would recommend it to anyone - married or single, it does not matter. It also does not matter where your lack of integrity pops up - be it work, social life, friendship or marriage. It will pop up everywhere and is rooted in the same causes pointed out in book.

Instead of being purely behavioral guide, like most books are, this book, with reader's will, can help mobilize what is best in them, not just follow checkbox guide. English is my 3rd language, and book is much more difficult ... Read More:

I would recommend this book to anyone who really is motivated to change their appearance. I've tried many different fitness plans and they all reverted to the same thing: no change. Jillian really gives you the tools you need and a guided 30 day plan of eating, exercise, and motivation. It's was very easy to follow and she only has you become more aware of what you are eating by reading labels and learning what is put into your food. I have continued exercising even after reaching a weight loss goal of 18 pounds in 30 days. I also continue avoiding the "fat" foods discussed in the book. I did not enjoy reading this book.

While many of the concepts presented are no doubt accurate and often enlightening, there is just far too much use of unecessarily complex and obscure language. You just about need to have a Thesaurus handy to interpret the text along the way.

Unless you are a master of the english language and enjoy the challenge of understanding words you have never heard on a sentence to sentence basis, do yourself a favour and invest in one of the other great texts available with regard to understanding the importance of recognising, controlling and utilising the emotional reactions of the human psyche.

I decided to get this audio after reading a junk book called the Player Slayer. For some reason, this book came up after I made that purchase. Anyway ...

This was a fun audio to listen to. It was very funny. Comments such as "use your breakup period to meditate, buy selfhelp books, or murder" had me cracking up.

I laughed through much of the audio. As a result, I don't understand how the reviewers could take this book THAT serious. It is clear that you are suppose to take from this book the general principle:

****Don't waste time on a man that disrespects you, uses drugs or alcohol, keeps you waiting, and never calls when he states he is going to call.*****

My dear daughter just turned 8-months, she is our second baby. She was getting up three or four times a night wanting to be nursed back to sleep. My husband and I are going on a cruise and decided that we needed to do something so our poor parents were not getting up with her. So we read this book (that I bought for my 1st child but never needed) and after three nights, she is sleeping 10+ hours! I was skeptical after the first night of trying it and figured it was a fluke that she slept 5 hours without waking but after the third night I'm convinced this book is genius!

In the hospital: When your resident asks you to write orders for 17 medicines on one patient, you'll be glad you have this... It's in everyone's pocket. Make sure you have this year's copy. This is the one with small print and no spiral binding. This is almost ALWAYS quicker than the PDA. I've raced people. Also, no batteries to rely on.

It would be a mistake to read this book through the lens of nostalgia. Certainly the childhood Kalish describes is very appealing, particularly her commentaries on how her family fostered thrift and independence. It's always tempting to think that the past is somehow a better place. However few of us, I suspect, would wish to return to a time when a failed marriage could mark a woman for life (and Kalish is clear about the effect of this on her mother) or when one measure of a woman's worth was the degree of shine on her windowpanes (and Kalish is clear about her disdain for that particular preoccupation). It's also important to remember that this memoir is just one view of the Depression years; Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" (1939), which is based on his firsthand ... Read More:
