This is a fantastic book that will completely (and Biblically) reshape the way you think about Heaven and life after death (or as Wright calls it, "Life after life after death"). This is a great read for those searching to better understand the Hope Christians are supposed to have, but have somehow forgotten over the last centuries. It turns out we have something to be even MORE excited about beyond a lofty cloud in the sky. Wright points to Scripture and Church History in order to make a convincing argument that what we often think of as Heaven and the meaning of "resurrection" actually needs to be revised. So much of this book is moving, personal and witty. It includes a brilliant article by Michael Shermer www.michaelshermer.com about how God made it look like evolution happened in such a convincing way to test our faith. Daniel Dennett wrote about how an accident left him close to death (obviously, he recovered, thanks to a caring medical staff) and what this says about human goodness. Old and unexpected writers, such as Mark Twain and Omar Khayyam, are fascinating reading. These present facets of atheism that many of us wouldn't have thought of.
If you think Hitch et al present a "straw man" view of religion that is childish, irrational and counterproductive, do some research and you'll see that a lot of people in the U.S. do believe this way.

Someone gave us this book about 10 years ago when our son was having some major behavior problems. After reading this book I came to realize that the problems were heart problems and needed to be dealt with. This book was a tool used to help change our lives as a family. We started to see a dramatic change in our son after several months, and things have been much better since then. My son is now 16. My son loves the Lord and has a desire to serve Him. His heart is yealded to God, which gives me much peace knowing that he is now much more accountable to God than to me. I highly recommend this book to all parents. It takes time and consistency, but it is worth the results!
