This little book is probably the best of it's kind and is invaluable for the budget travellor. It contains accurate descriptions of accomodation and restaurants in different price ranges. My only comment is that the writer is a little harsh on Calangute, yes it's a busy, bustling tourist town - but I didn't see 'heaps of garbage' and the town starting to 'stew in it's juices'. However generally I loved this little book, the photos were great and I would have been lost without it!

You cant go wrong with this one unless you are just looking for an overview. Metro stops clearly marked and excellent detail!!!

I often buy Rough Guides over Lonely Planet for one reason; RG's maps are much easier to read as they offer much greater contrast. However, readers must not depend on the bus/tram numbers mentioned in this book as they are sometimes wrong (LP usually gets bus/tram numbers right). Considering that these numbers do not change very often and that they can be verified online, the author is lazy. Examples include the bus numbers for the palaces in Potsdam and the bus/tram numbers for Heidelberg. And his description of the traverse from Bahnhof Rödental to Schloss Rosenau just outside Coburg as a "short walk" is highly misleading, unless you consider a walk of about a mile as short. This is a tiny book (much smaller than I thought (it's about 3" x 4")! Each page has an example of a different experience you they recommend in Southeast Asia. I am interested in planning a trip and this book is not helpful even for narrowing down which countries to go to. I am a 28 year old looking to travel with my wife on a 2-3 week trip after I finish graduate school. I am not interested in many of the experiences in the book. They really do mean "ROUGH," as in "roughing it." If you're planning a trip, I think you're better off buying a book about the specific country you want to go to. This book does not have enough detailed information to be useful.
