.The Rough Guide to Goa City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: David Abram September 17, 2007 This little book is probably the best of it's kind and is invaluable for the budget travellor. It contains accurate descriptions of accomodation and restaurants in different price ranges. My only comment is that the writer is a little harsh on Calangute, yes it's a busy, bustling tourist town - but I didn't see 'heaps of garbage' and the town starting to 'stew in it's juices'. My boyfriend actually bought this book, and thank goodness he did since it is the greatest book I have ever used for recommendations on places to shop and eat. Every single place we ate in from this book (and we tried alot), was as described and very very good. This is the first city-specific Rough Guide map I've used (the others were larger areas - regions or countries), and the detail in such a large area is impressive. Landmarks such as tube stops and attractions are easily picked out and the additional information (attraction hours and days) was useful and accurate (which suprised me). The tough material that the map is made up of held up perfectly - we didn't lose any detail to creases and no tears formed. The author gives quite an honest look at what to love about Egypt and what to really keep your distance from (I'm looking at you, scamming touts, in front of the Egyptian Museum!). This guide really prepares you for the trip and helps you experience more than what the typical tourist sees. .The Rough Guides' Ibiza Directions 2 (Rough Guide Directions) City Travel Guides > Books > Rough Guide by: Iain Stewart March 31, 2008 This book is definitely more useful than the alternative, "Ibiza Travel Pack", which I also purchased. It focuses evenly on different geographic regions of the island, even though some of these are more heavily trafficked than others. The book lacked information about Playa d'en Bossa, which is the area I am interested in--it does not review any hotels in this area--so I had to turn to the Internet for more info.
