This is the first Rough Guide I ever used and it was so great, that I have bought one for each of the countries I visited. They might be large, but I only had to bring one book and it took care of all questions/confusion/curiousity/mysteries. It became our bible on our trip to New Zealand!

I bought this Rough Guide for my next holidays, before it was even printed, knowing I would risk not to receive it in time for my departure.
In the meantime it started popping up unto the shelves of my favourite bookshop, while all of my friends joked me about my pourchase, which I would have needed to resell coming back from holidays.
But Amazon surprised me again and they delivered it before the scheduled date and I am so far studying it!
I believe Rough Guide Directions are an even better tipe of guides, for the tourist who wants to grab a good bite of the place with an indepth knowledge without all the fuss of a boring lecture.

Overall this book is very detailed with a lot of background information and interesting reading. However, as a practical guide, the book is way too dated for fast-changing China. For example, five new subway lines have started operation in Shanghai since the book was written. Although this edition was published only 2 years ago, it glaringly omits one of Shanghai's hottest new destinations for the past decade: Xintiandi, a must see for any visitor to the city. It also has no mention of Qiandao Hu (Lake of a Thousand Islands), a major scenic area in Zhejiang Province.

The author's attitude is sometimes bewildering. In the paragraph for Wulingyuan National Park (Zhangjiajie), the author complains in the same sentence about overcrowding ... Read More:

We just returned from a great trip to the Yucatan, and this guide is worth more than you can imagine. Despite being a little concerned at a couple of the suggested restaurants(they don't speak English, and they are obviously for a local audience), we never got sick, the food was delicious, and a great bargain. We are planning on purchasing Rough Guides for all of our trips, to make the most of the maps, trip, and restaurant suggestions. However, this guide was published in 2005, and the prices are a little higher now, and one restaurant was not there. Not too bad since Playa del Carmen is rapidly changing. Buy this guide, have a great trip, and travel smart!

I examined numerous Antigua / Barbuda books in various stores and found this to be the best. It's physical size is tiny at 4" x 5.5" but it contained better information than any of the other books I saw. If you are looking for a book exclusively about Antigua and barbuda I would recommend buying this book. It will prove most useful if you review it before you start planning your vacation.

This order was my first experience with Amazon. I wanted only this book but when I saw shipping would be free if I ordered $25 of product I also included another item to get free shipping. I spend over $25, but did not get free shipping resulting in a simple order to cost me $40. I have searched your site and have not been able to reach customer service so an using this review site assuming service people review. Please respond.
