First of all, the title of the audio book "Canoeing With The Cree" is misleading. This work is not about Cree Indian canoeing style. Nor is it about a trip taken with Cree Indians. It is about two boys, Eric Sevareid (later a famous journalist and TV reporter) and Walter Port aged 17 and 19 respectively, who take the trip of a lifetime canoeing some 2200 miles from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay over the course of one summer. I have read both of Kira Salak's books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I am hoping she will write another one soon. Four Corners was great and I was able to compare much of my trip to hers (although mine was not quite as adventurous). I don't feel she spoke too much on the dangers of PNG, as one reviewer wrote. The dangers are very real and different than other countries. I also enjoyed the excerpt on her travels through Mozambique included in this book. She has a gift for writing. Hurry up Ms. Salak and write another book soon!

I found this book very readable and as I was reading it I started to feel like I knew the Huaoranis and feel their pain. Joe Kane may be an anthropologist but he does not write in a manner that makes you think that the Huaoranis are his study subjects. By the time I finished the book I felt like I had been there with them and certainly understood them much better than before. I also became very aware of the horrific destruction caused by the oil companies.

I thought that this book was a great read. We are getting ready to go to Disneyland again, and although somethings I did know. I still loved reading about all the things I did not. My brother even enjoyed reading it, and in a day of TV I was suprised with how much he enjoyed it and stoped watching the TV. I think this book is a must have for any Disneyland fan and even just a Disney fan. I know I will bring the book to Disneyland just to look for the things I didn't know or have never noticed. I think it is a Must Buy !

This book was a total godsend. It was our first time (with kids), and this book answered every question we had and then some. We never asked anyone anything, if we had a question, we consulted the book. Only thing I wish they would do different is update it annually. Some of the newer rides weren't in it. But didn't make big difference. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it! When we go back, we will always have the most updated version of this book with us.

Although I have nothing but the utmost respect for these reknowned climbers and their worthy attempt to summit K2, I did not enjoy this book nearly as much as some of the other climbing epics out there today.

It is interesting to see the difference in climbing narratives written back in the 50's as compared to those written in the last thirty years or so. It seems like there was a different attitude toward climbing in the 50's and before, one that was more supportive of teamwork and cooperation, whereas many of today's narrations are more reflective of each person being responsible for taking care of him or herself only (such as the '96 Everest disaster). This is a well-written and warm account of several bicycle adventure tours into the lowest points on Earth. The trail descriptions in this book are great. The book may be worth buying for the descriptions alone. But there are only 11 (very) simple line drawing maps for 124 trails and there are no elevation diagrams whatsoever. In fact, you have to search each trail description if you want to find the elevation change. That information could have been displayed in the margin (which is how the author displayed information he thought was important). This book has 124 trails and therefore desperately needs a section classifying the trails in groups such as long, short, scenic, strenuous etc. The only trail classification in the book is with the very long trails.
