I had the feeling that this is basically a 80-100 page novelette expanded into a 240-page novel: the heart is good, but it's been bulked out. There's some fine writing, particularly with the naive Bible salesman linking up with a professional car thief (and worse). But this part is fleshed out with flashbacks to the Henry Dampier's (the salesman) youth. The flashbacks are interesting, but they do not add significantly to the main thread of the tale. I found that I wanted to get back to 1950 to see what would happen next with the salesman and the car thief: the flashbacks were a distraction.

I loved all the Maximum Ride books. This one was a little contrived, more of a lesson on global warming with a short, wierd battle at the end. It is a credit to Patterson that he has developed such great characters, that I still loved to read about them.

I used this book to prepare for the AP Psychology exam and was thrilled! I had never taken a psychology course before and thought it would be challenging to try to succeed on the exam to earn college credit. It was easy to read and the practice test questions were extremely similar to those on the actual exam. I was excited to hear that I received a 5 on my exam... and the only aid I used was this book! I would recommend this to anyone.

This book is truly a mixed bag. On one hand, it's funny, easy to read, and contains some smart tips. On the other hand, it contains very few examples and some embarrassing errors, which caused me to question its accuracy.

I applaud the author for writing a concise SAT guide that is accessible to the typical student. However, I would strongly advise readers to use this book in conjunction with the College Board's own preparation guides. On its own, this book does not provide adequate background material - or examples - for the average reader.

Being born decades after the Depression, in the South, to a middle-class white family, I'm about as far remvoed from Bud, not Buddy as one can be, yet I felt right at home with Bud.

I found his overall attitude and persistence interesting. He never in the book said, "I give up", instead he continued to his goal no matter how far away or far fetched it seemed to be, and when he got to his goal it didn't seem as far fetched as I thought it was.

This is a great book for all readers, I enjoyed reading it, I found it to be right on par with the other Newbery books I've read in terms of story, delicate issues, and the like.

The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests isn't a study guide at all, as is the case with most if not all of College Board's study guide publications. This book includes only one previously administered test per subject area, which isn't adequate enough to determine the knowledge you have mastered in the subject. The exams themselves must be at least several years old, and the conversion charts reflect the performance of past years; test writers change over time as well as student competitiveness. The part that probably ticks people off the most is that NO answer explanation is included.
