i'm heading to Las Vegas in September in 2008.i wanted a book that would go through everything that las vegas had to offer. i am not going to gamble. so i was delighted that the book only had a small chapter about gambling.the book listed everything from shopping to eating. the most informative part of the book was the trips of of town, i didn't realisze California was so close to Las vegas (1 hour flight) so now i'm heading to LA aswell thanks to the book. it also has a wedding section which i found useful as i hope to get married in Vegas in 2009. it had all the information about about getting a marriage licence & the hidden costs.
great read. Well Worth Buying!!!!!

The basics are here: what's where, hotels, restaurants, museums, and the rest. If there were no other guides to Madrid, this would probably be OK. If you're a twenty-something party animal, it's probably quite good. This has a strong emphasis on night life, music, and sport. It points out the places that are friendly to same-sex social life as well as the more traditional venues. If you're in the target demographic, you'll probably like this a lot better than I do. I have just a little time away from a business trip to enjoy the city, and I'm looking for a different side of the city.

This is a good bookend to the Eyewitness Guide. The Eyewitness Guides are good for telling you about what you want to see while the Time Out guide is much much better on hotels, restaurants and other practical matters. You really do need both and a better map. My only complaint about the Time Out guide is the advertising. Not only does it make the guide larger than it needs to be, it also brings into question the objectivity of some the suggestions made.

I've gone on close to 20 walks and I love each walk more then the one before. This book is a must have if you want to see London at its best. You will see every part of London and discover so much about the city but always be left amazed. Time Out did an extraordinary job with the walks, but the writing is just as entertaining as the walks themselves. Phenomenal Book. If you like walking or are planning on spending an extended period of time in London, you have to get this book.

This review is going to be a very short one.

The Time Out guides are almost invariably a great source of valuable information. The London guide is one of the oldest, if not the oldest of the Time Out series, and the amount of expertise and, more importantly, to my mind, off-beat suggestions, e.g., where to find a restaurant specializing in Mongolian Hot Pot, makes it invaluable.

There is only a minor problem with the guide; it is revised each year, so that Time Out London from 2005, when it was perfectly good, may have a bit too much outdated information

The current Timeout 2004 guide for Washington, DC has really good coverage of DC art galleries; in fact it is the only DC guide that offers any decent "guiding" to Washington area galleries.

It is written by Jessica Dawson, who also pens the "Galleries" column for the Washington Post.

She has a good introduction and even lists her favorites for 2004 under "Names of the Game."

Jessica nails it when she recognizes in her intro that a new "optimism" is kindling a really good art scene in the Washington, DC region.

Unfortunately, throughout the pages dedicated to the galleries, and as it is to be expected, there are quite a few comparisons to New York this, New York that all over the place.

This is a great all-round guide to the beautiful city of Dublin. I found this book to be thorough, unbiased and honest (it didn't read like a tourism leaflet). Never had any problems with it, personally. Also loved the chapters on history, Dublin today and so on. ***** out of *****.

This book is fantastic. I used this book in conjunction with websites like http://www.cometocapetown.com (which handled my accommodation & car hire bookings) and I was fully equipped for an excellent holiday in South Africa. Can highly recommend, and like the rest of the time out series, this one doesn't dissapoint.

This is a fat book: 415 pages with small type. It's probably too heavy to throw into a daypack as I travel around London on my upcoming trip, so I've ordered its smaller sibling, the Time Out London Cheap Eats, for that role.

However, if I were spending more than a few days in the city, I would definitely bring along this book. It is chock full of restaurant reviews, with very real-world considerations (such as whether a baby carriage can fit between the aisles), and not-always-positive write-ups that nonetheless give you a strong sense of what the place is like.
